Max Richter’s SLEEP
“Sleep is among the most arresting films of this year”— Kambole Campbell, Empire
SLEEP is a ground-breaking visual portrait of acclaimed composer Max Richter and his creative partner, artist Yulia Mahr, as they navigate an ambitious open-air, overnight performance of this celebrated eight-hour opus in Los Angeles.
Transcending the work to explore its legacy, SLEEP is a compelling and deeply personal insight into the life and work of Max Richter and Yulia Mahr—a creative partnership spanning thirty years—diving into their process, their tenacity, and the drive needed to sustain such work.
The contemplative essence of SLEEP offers a poetic depiction of the ‘liminal state’. This is a film for these challenging times, offering an immersive and meditative respite from the chaos of the world.
The film is streaming on BBC IPlayer and Mubi.com.
I AM THALENTE
“The Rocky of skateboarding films” - The Goodmen Project
With a name like Thalente (pronounced “Talent”), it might seem like success was destined. But destiny had little to do with his journey. After escaping an abusive home in South Africa at age nine, Thalente found refuge in a local skate park and the streets of Durban, discovering freedom and identity on a skateboard—and eventually, a path to a new life in America.
I Am Thalente follows his raw and deeply personal coming-of-age as he navigates culture shock, academic hurdles, first love, and the pressure of turning passion into profession. As he learns to drive, chase dreams, and make up for the education he never had, his board remains his anchor—an outlet for both frustration and hope.
The award-winning film offers a rare window into what it truly takes to make it as a pro skater, featuring legends like Tony Hawk, Kenny Anderson, Guy Mariano, and more. It’s an intimate, front-row seat to a young man rewriting his future in real time.
A film for those with dreams to follow.
All Became Golden
“Spectacular, something to be experienced, not simply viewed” - Black Book Magazine
In a bold and innovative collaboration with filmmaker Natalie Johns and celebrated composer Nico Muhly, British chanteuse Essie Jain rediscovers her love of music.
Essie Jain, known for her stunning and critically acclaimed debut album We Made This Ourselves had all but given up on music after a challenging follow-up record cycle.
A long-time fan, Johns convinced Essie to embark on a bold experiment—pairing music with film to offer audiences an unfiltered, uncompromised window into the creative process.
To bring this vision to life, they invited celebrated New York composer Nico Muhly, whose collaborations include working with icons like Björk and Philip Glass.
In February 2012, they gathered at The DiMenna Center with a full orchestra to begin this groundbreaking journey. All Became Golden captures the rehearsals, performances, and recording of the album, offering a rare and intimate look at the joy, risk, and deep trust involved in artistic collaboration.
